Demlakian have undertaken hundreds of projects in the area of urban drainage and on-site detention. Specialising in hydrology and hydraulics projects range from routine to the more complex public drainage infrastructure.

As evidenced by the following case studies our solutions enhance the developments as well as resulting in cost-effective outcomes. In particular the solutions developed usually result in savings to the overall construction cost by being more effectively integrated into the overall development.

Durham Green Village, Menangle

This 10 hectare site has been subdivided for 170 villa homes specially designed for older Australians as well as a centralised three storey Residential Care Facility (RCF) building incorporating the community facilities.

Design and documentation included the internal site drainage system and approximately 2.0 kilometres of trunk drainage through the streets. WSUD principles were incorporated throughout the design.

Sophisticated management and treatment of storm water and services were required to ensure successful design of this project, including input and advice into a design-construct component for on-site waste water treatment.

At present, approximately 85 of the 170 villa homes proposed have been completed and occupied as well as the infrastructure and RCF building.

Apartments – Woodside Avenue, Lindfield

The rainwater harvesting tank was strategically located beneath the driveway ramp in an area minimising excavation and construction. The on-site detention storage was cleverly located in the landscaped Japanese Garden.

Demlakian also undertook extensive negotiation with Council to achieve reductions in the detention volume due to the site being partly flood affected.

Apartments – Palmer Street, Cammeray

As part of our engagement to redesign the engineering of this project the location of the proposed on-site detention storage was adjusted to save time, cost and excavation.

The installation was neatly located within the landscaped planters fronting the street.
