Demlakian have developed a detailed understanding required to appropriately address the access needs of people with disabilities as a niche skill area – one that has often been overlooked or poorly provided by others. Demlakian takes pride in its well-developed skills in this area and the quality of the civil design undertaken.

Durham Green Village, Menangle

A recent example was the civil design for the Durham Green Seniors Living development at Menangle. This 10-hectare site is being subdivided to accommodate 170 villa homes specially designed for older Australians.

Services undertaken by Demlakian included design and documentation of internal roads, Menangle Road widening, and storm water disposal and treatment as well as critical bulk excavation analysis to ensure the most effective materials handling solution resulted.

The civil design required resolution of disabled access to all parts of the site – with general roadways designed to enable direct access to buildings, instead of access being provided from standard footpaths.

The storm water design included provision of a five hundred metre long trunk drainage line to a nearby creek which was effectively designed and negotiated with neighbouring property owners by Demlakian.
